Moments
Is a five meter long and 80cm high picture / 197 x 40 inches, (which can be exhibited in half size).
I call it a wandering motive. The picture is a montage of captured summer moments from the same place on a beach that set together form a picture.
It is impossible to see the whole picture at once, for if one steps back the figures become ant like, but one can walk along it and experience moments of life by the water. There are children that play, women that chat, an older couple hand in hand walking to the sea, a man talking on his mobile phone and someone floating on an inflatable ring. Many small moments of life.
The inspiration to Moments was the wish to create an atmosphere that can occur, when one is in a zone of existence and opens all senses, so as to feel life. To me the picture composes an allegory of life, with its many stages and nostalgias and like so many other things in life the memory of the beach is often clearer and stronger than the actual experience when you sit there with sand under your finger nails and dried salt from the sea on your back.
